A "possible suicide" results in no JW support
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose, wife and daughters are jehovahs witnesses, told me about situation that his oldest daughter finds abhorrent.
he said that a close friend of his daughter was found dead in a car the other day.
she was in her early 30's and had been a lifelong jw.

In my area there were 2 suicides within a close time frame. One was a newer sister, baptised about 3 years, very favorable unbelieving mate, very generous everyone loved her. The other was a middle aged bother with a long history of depression, whole family in the truth. The sister's funeral was just hush hush done at the funeral home. The other one was a big talk that spoke of the disease depression and a big reception after. For the life of me I didn't understand the difference.

Ben, thanks for sharing your story. You seem like just the kind of man I hope my sons turn out to be, how on earth could your mother turn her back to you, shows how very sick they are. I hope I can answer those questions as bravely as you did, I am just a fader but my day is coming, thanks for the encouragement. NMKA

Wow your U-I-L sounds just like my in laws. My husband always gets (while I am sitting there no less) "what you have here is a headship problem, if you were any kind of family head, you'd make 'r go to meetings, most problems all the way back to the garden of Eden are just headship problems". This time they were in town (DC week) I took myself out of the equation, what a relief. My poor husband though, still has that pesky headship problem.

Insomniacs...your tricks for staying asleep?
by restrangled inpersonally i have tried ambien,....yes puts me out but i am up in 2 to 3 hours.....heavy doses borrowed from those taking it for years.
they are shocked it dosen't keep me down.
i just wake up woozey....i hate it.. i can fall asleep easy but just dont stay asleep....its absolutely awful.. i wake up probably 3 times a night if not more, ....i take the dog out, whether he wants to or not, go out smoke a cig and then go back to sleep.. what i find helps me is very fresh ironed sheets with lavendar scent.....that will give me 3 hours without waking up.. the blankets can't be too cold or too hot,..which is almost impossible to get perfect,....the pillows cant be too hard or too soft....i have at least 6 on the bed to choose from..... what the hell is wrong with me?

I know the feeling, I get very anxious thinking I'm not going to get any sleep because I have to get up really really early and have a job where I have to be "on". I think it helps to wind down early 8:30 for me, try to reduce anything stressful like talking about bills. Take a bath or shower. Lay out your stuff for the next day. Then for extra insurance I take melatonin. You can get it over the counter and it is natural. You can start at 1mg and go up to 5mg. I fall asleep easily, fall right back after I go to the bathroom. The best part is I usually wake up before the alarm goes off. Some of my friends have reported odd dreams while taking it, I haven't really noticed. Hope it helps. NMKA

My parents are the same way. They constantly talk about how horrible this world is, meantime they live in a lovely home, vacation at least 5months out of the year, have great health care, 3 vehicles and a stocked pantry. What more do you want out of life? Being patient is all you can do.

IronHill, I am familiar with the feelings you are experiencing. My husband and I got out together, but his family did talk him into going to the memorial and it made me very nervous. You can't read their mind and you know very well it is a high pressure situation. I just rode it out with my lap top that night and was relived to see that he did not have the enchanting spiritual experience that I feared. Trust her.
